Another busy weekend

Another busy weekend of cycling for everyone – the leisure/beginners group continues to grow and gain experience and this week they tackled Hill Road in Bunratty. Short and sharp but everyone proved more than capable of conquering it. The An Post Tour de Burren on Saturday saw groups take on the 3 different distances 160km 110km and 60km with all the groups coming together in Lisdoonvarna for lunch, there was plenty of banter and chat on the road meeting up with other cycling clubs and sharing stories and adventures. A day that started with putting on suncream and sunglasses and finished up with putting on the finishers hoodie and warm dry clothes. That’s cycling in Ireland ! Still the ice creams at the finish line were just the job.

Sunday had no official club spin but congratulations are in order for Kevin Dunne who took on his 10th Wyeth Askeaton Touring Club’s annual charity cycle. Kevin has been doing this 100plus kilometre cycle since he was 10 yrs old and is an integral member of C4SC and has helped to raise many thousands of euros over the years for local charities.

With the cycling over the club met for a few leisure drinks and chat in Jerry Flannery's Bar in Catherine St for a mid year social. Many thanks to Will Morgan & staff for great hospitality as always

Coming up on Tuesday is the Summer Solistice cycle – 4.30am meeting at Penny’s in the City Centre and heading to Lough Gur for a dawn breakfast. Next Sunday is our club’s annual Awareness Tour – looking forward to seeing all our friends and supporters on the day. The purchase order for sunshine has been sent in and approved
