Weekly Summary

Torrential rain overnight cleared away and gave a fabulous bright Sunday morning for a 70km spin towards Askeaton & Rathkeale. First split of the day occurred here with some turning back for a 50km spin with a coffee stop In D and M Garden Centre Croagh. Onwards for the rest towards Ballingarry for a well earned cuppa in SPAR Ballingarry. After a feed of caffeine, a further split in the ranks brought some treking up Knockfierna for hill work and others taking the fast road into Croom where everyone then regrouped. Onwards to Adare and home via Patrickswell. Not content with 70km, a few took on the 100km challenge for February – well done everyone.

Saturday had a large group out for the extended 50km leisure spin. Welcome back to some familiar faces who had taken a winter hiatus. Large numbers out also for the first dry Wednesday Nighthawks in many weeks. Tactics and getting into the right position for the final line sprint is a game played out every week and well done to Ita who blitzed past everyone this week and came in first across the line.

Coming up soon is the 50km Pat Nolan Charity Cycle. Running for 19 years, this is always a very popular event and gets many people back on the bike for the new season. This year’s beneficiary is the Cliona's Foundation. More details on the attached poster or head over to the facebook page.
