Cyclists, cyclists - everywhere
Cyclists, cyclists - everywhere you look this week there were pink jerseys – John Mc Meel and Keith McGuane blitzing from Mizen to Malin, Aaron McGlade taking on the Belfast Gran Fondo Giro, Fintan Harrold leading the Leisure Saturday group, the Heavy Gang in Listowel for Kerry Crusaders event, Dan O'Donnell putting in some hot weather training in France, Kevin Dunne keeping control of the Sunday club group, Jason Enright in Galway for the Croi spin, Bank holiday Monday “what else would you be doing” group, Brian Hehir dodging trees with some mountain biking in Killaloe, Emer Hayes racking up kms in Suzhou China, Padraig O Connor in Kerry and the numerous other camera shy members out cycling this weekend – if you didn’t see us on the road, you must have been celebrating the bank holiday weekend indoors :) A few punctures along the way, broken spokes, small mechanicals, thundery showers, sunshine, wind burn – what else would you expect for the June weekend :)
The second of the combined 2lads2events challenge starts next Friday 9th June from Thomond Park when Aaron and Andy start off on their 760km trip to Stade Francais in Paris. As joint beneficiaries with Alzheimer’s Society we wish the lads and their support team the very best of luck for a safe and memorable journey. Best wishes too the everyone taking on the Wicklow 200 next weekend.
Coming up soon is Bike Week with Limerick Smarter Travel and a host of various events planned. Friday 16th June is the annual Solstice Cycle with a 4.30am start from Penneys Limerick to Lough Gur for a sunrise breakfast before returning to the city centre in time for work. Check out the website for more events. C4SC will be working with Enable Ireland to host a table quiz on Friday night 16th June to raise funds to purchase trikes for children with intellectual disabilities. Lots of support would be appreciated for this event – having these tribkes available will allow children and young adults the opportunity of getting out in the fresh air and trying cycling as an activity.
