From Connemara to Limerick to the Beara Peninsula
From Connemara to Limerick and down to the Beara Peninsula, cyclists woke up early Saturday morning to grey skies, rain and a sense of a long wet day ahead. The leisure cyclists called a halt to their spin having decided a bit of scuba diving might have been a suitable alternative. However by starting time, the skies had brightened and the SKODA Tour de Conamara and Ring of Beara Cycle Kenmare ended up as fantastic days out for the club. Massive well done to everyone, especially Clair Ducie who undertook her first big outing, handling 80km like a pro. Some mechanicals in Kenmare saw Barry MacGyver Gallagher get stuck at the start with a broken spoke but soon he sprang into action and off on the road again. Well done to Ita too, great to see her back on the road after a recent incident with a car which resulted in a written off bike.
Lovely sunshine for the Sunday spinners. After an early starting line puncture for John Murphy all set off on the planned 80km route - shortened for some and lengthened for others. Everyone had a great day out - each at their own pace and distance.
Coming up next week is the KerryCrusaders cc Scenic Challenge Sportive in aid of Orbis.
