The first of many events...

Well done to Billy Fisher this morning representing the club at The 5th John Minogue Memorial Run/Walk and Cycle , Co. Clare. The first of many events in club colours for new member Billy.

The hardy bunch set off Sunday morning in full winter kit in zero temperatures. Not wishing to tempt the roads up Knockfierna a quick change was made instead and they stayed on main roads for a flat(ish) route to Ballingarry. A puncture on the homeward stretch slowed things down and so the bunch circled back down the road to help out in the roadside breakdown assistance (well, they stood around, watched and made smart comments !!) It turned out to be a cracking morning in the end – blue skies and sunshine and home before the day changed and hailstones came pelting down.

Saturday morning leisure group had blue skies and sunshine but unfortunately it wasn’t warm weather training. Fingers and toes eventually thawed out by the time Philip lead us into Bunratty for regrouping and a photo op. All returned home via coffee, chat and a bit of slagging in The Hub. Next week we will extend out the route a small bit to begin training up for longer distances. However, as always, there will be shortcuts available if the time or distance doesn't suit anyone.

Night hawks continues to draw the crowds and its been a great winter season with double figures out every wednesday night for hard training on the Condell Road. There is a stretch already visible in the evenings and it will be nice to start venturing further afield once good daylight is available to us. In the meantime, don't forget - hi viz jackets, lights, lights and more lights. Be safe - be seen.
