Wet and greasy roads!

Wet and greasy roads didn't deter anyone from venturing out on the bike this weekend. The Saturday leisure spin group saw 18 take off from Woodies with a good mixture of cyclists - those taking off the stabilisers for first time post Christmas, a few new members trying out and looking to see what a club spin is like, a few returning to fitness and all of us out for a few km in a sociable group with the promise of coffee, croissant and a chat afterwards. It got fairly foggy on the return leg but with everyone sporting hi viz jackets and lights everyone made it home safely.

Sunday served up the same weather and road conditions but thankfully without the fog. With 2 groups out covering either the 55km or 75km route, there was once again a place for everyone. With the coffee stop in Sixmilebridge so popular this morning it was looking like there was a mini sportive on - Club-Rothaíochta Na-Sionainna Ennis, Dolmen Cycling and ourselves all choosing to descend on the village at the one time, all proving what great cycling routes we have so close to the city. With such large numbers on the road all week, the laundry fairies are currently working overtime to keep up with the wet and greasy kit but it's all in the name of good fun, keeping healthy and building up friendships. Reminder to keep your lights charged, carry spare tubes, gas/pump, mobile phone charged, and ensure your CI licence is up to date.

A note to keep Saturday 4th March free for the 17th annual Pat Nolan Charity Cycle. Always a great event and, however he manages to do it, always in fine weather.
